Karin Slaughter’s novel The Good Daughter is coming to screens.
Per the series’ logline, The Good Daughter follows the Quinn sisters — Charlotte (Fahy) and Samantha (Byrne) — who have spent two decades trying to move forward from a violent tragedy that forever changed their lives. When another attack threatens their small town, Charlotte, now a lawyer, finds herself on the case.

WSAV had the opportunity to speak with Georgia native and author Karin Slaughter about “The Good Daughter,” which will premiere as a TV series on NBC’s Peacock streaming platform Nov. 12.
The series is based on Slaughter’s 2017 best-selling crime thriller novel about two sisters and their traumatic, family-secret-filled past, as Slaughter describes it.
Emmy Award-nominated Meghann Fahy will star as Charlotte Quinn alongside Academy Award-nominated actress Rose Byrne as Samantha Quinn.

In a competitive situation, Apple TV has landed the rights to develop All the Little Houses, a drama series based on the recently published novel from The Hunting Wives’ May Cobb.
Cobb is co-creating the show with Naomi Sheldon, of Prime Video’s The Girlfriend, who will be its writer. Fifth Season will serve as the studio and Kristen Campo’s Campout Productions and Linden Entertainment will serve as executive producers.

The frisky wives of Maple Brook will keep hunting. Netflix has given an early Season 3 renewal to The Hunting Wives, its raunchy mystery drama series starring Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman. Casting for the eight-episode new installment is already underway.

The WME literary media department, responsible for working with authors and shepherding screen adaptations of their literary works, is marking its tenth anniversary in the wake of a big showing at this year’s Emmys.
The pair point to Karin Slaughter, whose books have been adapted into the hit ABC series “Will Trent,” as an example of how one of their clients has taken to writing for television with great enthusiasm.
“Because Karin had such a positive experience working on [‘Will Trent’], she adapted ‘The Good Daughter,’ which is going to premiere in November,” Zaitz Michael says. “She wrote all the episodes, and she did that all on spec, which is just unbelievably amazing.”

Based on Karin Slaughter’s gritty series of books, this likable ABC procedural stars Ramón Rodriguez as the titular Special Agent, a dyslexic former foster kid who just so happens to have the highest clearance rate among his peers at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
A throwback tone and terrific casting boost this consistently entertaining adaptation, which takes the material in enough of its own direction that you could easily read Slaughter’s books without knowing the plot’s every turn. In addition to sharp writing, Will Trent boasts a wonderful turn from Erika Christensen (as Will’s childhood pal and fellow foster kid, now a homicide cop) and a very cute tag-along puppy dog.

The Hunting Wives was the most-streamed series in the U.S. last week, racking up more than 2B minutes viewed on Netflix, per a new report from Luminate.
This is a pretty big win for Lionsgate Television, which produced the series that up until around two months ago was set for release on Starz. As of now, The Hunting Wives is only licensed to Netflix for U.S. distribution — not that that seems to have impacted its performance very much. In fact, the title is doing particularly well for a U.S.-only streaming series, more than doubling its viewership from the week prior, when it managed 811M minutes viewed in its debut week on Netflix, according to Luminate.

The Hunting Wives author May Cobb didn’t know where grocery money was going to come from when a phone call changed her life.
Cobb started her writing journey 25 years ago, with a nonfiction book about a jazz musician she admits she “still has to finish,” but after loving books like Gone Girl and Girl on the Train, decided to try her hand at thrillers. Her debut, Big Woods, came out in 2018 and while it was well reviewed, sales weren’t enough to make a dent in their finances.
